tate description:
The estate is located in the Southern France in the Languedoc Roussillon 30 km North West from Montpellier.
Under Roman Empire, on the St. Guilhem le Désert road, the Assinarius villa hill-sides were planted as vineyards. St. Benoît built the Aniane Monastery and extended the vineyards area to the Larzac Terrasses footstep.
Philippe Ellner Estate, the Conquêtes Vineyard covers terraces overhanging the Hérault Valley in the Languedoc hart in Aniane. The terroir takes place on terraces oriented north-south with gravely and stony soil. The soils are deep, poor and naturally well drained.
The annual rain fall varies between 700 and 800mm.
The vineyards enjoy an advantageous micro-climate because of the Larzac terraces close location which protects them from an excessive amount of direct sunlight.
With the exploitation of 12 hectares, the vineyard is planted with :
· Chardonnay, Chenin, White Grenache and Vermentino for 2 Ha.
· Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre and Cinsault for 8Ha (with regional grape variety).
· Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Marsellan for 2Ha (with other grape variety).
Each plot of vine has been selected by serious soil analysis for each grape. Theses selections give us the guaranty the high quality of our grapes.
